Circa 1900, 6x10-5, This Kurdish rug from northwest Persia features a central field with a repeating pattern of elaborate vase motifs, each symmetrically arranged along the central axis. This is a Persian Khorasan. It is a very uncommon motif with a striking red medallion on a blue field with ivory spandrels and a red border. It is 10x13 and was woven around 1910.

This is a Persian Sultanabad or otherwise known as an early Mahal. Sultanabad’s are known for their all over motif of flowers, vines, and tendrils. This particular rug is very unusual in that it has so many colors; blues, greens, and even yellow. It also has an ivory border so that it has a very light over-all appearance. Circa 1900. 8-10x11-10.
